So, who is Mrs. Brown?

I am married to John Brown, and I have two wonderful, beautiful, fantastic children, Jamie and Hannah.  I've lived in Rome my entire life.  I graduated from Shorter College in 2003 with a degree in Middle Grades Education. In 2005, I graduated from Jones International University with a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration.  I am currently working on my doctorate degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I was named 7th grade Teacher of the Year for Coosa Middle School in 2006.  I was named Ashworth Middle School's Teacher of the Year for 2007-2008 and Gordon County School's Teacher of the Year for 2007-2008.  I've also been named one of Technology & Learning's Educational Technology Leader's of the Year for 2005.  I was invited to serve on PBS Television's Teacher Advisory Committee last year.  I've also been asked to be a reviewer for Corwin Press.  I love using technology in the classroom!  I strive to make education fun.  If I can get a child excited to walk into my room each day, then 90% of the job is done!  Motivation is the key to success!

Congratulations are in order for John Bagwell and Miranda McGee!!!  John placed first in the boy's division of the Floyd County School's Optimist Club Oratorical Contest and Miranda was first runner up in the girl's division.  John will moved on to the zone competition and also won at that level.  Next up for John - District Competition!  Way to go John!!

After spring break we will start on our movie unit.  This is a fun unit for students to really show their drama skills!

8th Grade Writing Assessment- My students performed awesome on the writing assessment!  All of my students passed and two students scored perfect scores!  My students average was 40 points higher than the state average.  Way to go!!
